Tainted by the Stars
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Tainted by the Stars is an indie game in Early Access – a top-down twin-stick shooter set in a dark, post-apocalyptic world. You play as a lone survivor, fighting off relentless zombie hordes with limited visibility due to a realistic fog-of-war system. Every bullet counts, and careful movement is key to survival.
Key Features (Early Access)
- Twin-stick shooter mechanics – Move with one stick (or WASD) and aim with the other (or mouse).
- Realistic visibility – Only see what your character sees, creating tense, unpredictable encounters.
- Tactical movement – No sprinting, every step matters.
- Scavenge for supplies – Limited ammo, search carefully!
- Challenging zombie encounters – Right now, only basic zombies – but more are coming!
Future Plans
- More enemy types (including fast zombie dogs).
- Multiple levels connected by a simple story.
- Interactables and scavenging mechanics.
I’d love to hear your feedback! Try it out and let me know what you think. 🚀

I enjoyed playing the content that was there! It was a bit hard to find the final few zombies at the end but the start was fun and I had a few jump scares.
All the future plans sound good to me! Would be cool to have environmental traps built in to the world to use against the zombies (instead of just more weapons)
Wow cool, thank you very much for your feedback. I highly appreciate it.
Would you like to share your ideas regarding environmental traps more detailed? I love the idea.
Regarding the zombies I will let them hunt you after a while to build up a constant pressure to you.
What do you think about the rudimentary UI? Was everything clear to you?
Thank yous so much again for your review! 🥰
Yes! Just like that! Maybe you can cause a gas leak inside the house then lure them in and cause an explosion for maximum damage. Or a petrol station for explosions.
Other traps would depend on your environment assets I suppose, maybe if you were in a forest you could have forested log piles that can tumble over, or in a warehouse you could have stacked physics crates that react to being shot.
Maybe you could go a step further and have generators that need to be powered on and hooked up to turn on machines to help kill the zombies.
UI was good, not 100% sold on it needing to vanish when its full as it made the blood splatter screen overlay slightly confusing (when I was at full health and didnt have a health bar I was wondering if that was that an indication of my health)
Great ideas! Thank you! :)
Traps are nice. I'm planning to implement more levels connected by a story and some puzzles. One puzzle will be to get a generator to run.
Maybe I'm experimenting a bit with those. What I also can imagine is to use generators next to buildings to attract zombies. Then, as you mentioned, let them explode.
Zombies cannot hear yet but it's about to be implemented soon. Since that would be necessary to attract them by sound.
The character will also be able to sneak and use melee weapons like a knife (in case you're out of ammo).
I will upload a new version the next days.
I hope you play again and give some feedback! I really love it.
